Role Summary / Purpose: 
 

The Advanced Lead -Embedded System Software Engineer is responsible for design, implement and review the feature enhancements, customer requisitions, NPI program for a locomotive and freight components control systems. 
 
In this role, Advanced Lead - Embedded System Software Engineer shall utilize his/her experience and expertise to: 

• Implement, debug, and solve problems in embedded control system products for Diesel Electric Locomotives, Marine and Stationary, and Freight components areas. 

• Embedded Programming Design/Development Experience 
  8086 or 80186 Assembler Experience 

• Experience using Emulators to test/debug/trace complex code issue 

• Document the implementation in compliance with Quality Management Systems standards. 

• Collaborate with other developers, System engineers, subsystem engineers, project managers, Field Engineers, test engineers, and customers. 

• Participate / Support Design verification/validation in end customer sites in India & Globally. 

• Document and analyze technical data retrieved from locomotives and related products to share insights. 

• Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments. 

• Participate as a presenter/reviewer in technical and program reviews. 

Qualification / Requirement: 
 

• Bachelor / Masters in Engineering in Computer Science/Electronics/Electrical engineering 

• 8 to 12 years of hands-on experience in embedded real-time software design and development using RTOS – Linux/QNX using C/C++. X86 Assembly language, PPC, P1022 and ZU3 and Pascal.  

• Strong technical aptitude, and effective verbal and written communication skills 

• Experience in networking protocols – TCP/UDP, Serial protocols, MODBUS. 

• Experience in working with Configuration management tools like – Perforce, GitLab.  

• Ability to write code aligning with Cyber security policies, well versed with SAST, DAST, Threat Modeling, BlackDuck, Coverity/Polaris and G-Test tools. 

• Ability to work using virtual machines and test environment. 

• Strong in stage gate review processes. 

• Ability to work in collaboration with cross functional systems and subsystems teams. 

• Ability to work in hardware integrated test environment and hands-on using the simulators and test equipment. 

• Past experience in safety critical applications like locomotive control systems. 

• Expertise in implementing DevOps Methodologies and tools.  

• Shell Scripting, Python knowledge is good to have. 

• In depth knowledge of Operating systems , Virtualization. Linux knowledge Mandatory. 

• In depth knowledge of DevOps tools and workflows. 

• Experience in Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins/GitLab and build automation. 

• Expertise in design and development of CI / CD pipelines for automated code analysis, test automations, build & deployment automations on Cloud and dedicated hosting platforms. 

• Experience in Software Version controls tools such as GitLab, Perforce. 

• Understanding of server technologies – Apache Tomcat, IIS. 

• Experience in any of the configuration management and application lifecycle management tools. 

• Experience in integration of Jenkins with Test automation tools such as Selenium etc.
