Job Responsibilities:
Specific Job Duties:
  • Assist with determining manufacturing requirements for new business quotes, ensuring alignment between product design, production capability, and cost targets.
  • Create a Bill of Process (BOP) for new quotes based on the Bill of Materials (BOM), part prints, and product performance requirements.
    • Determine machine requirements needed to manufacture the product, including equipment type, performance criteria, and necessary automation.
    • Calculate machine capacity requirements, including cycle time estimates, throughput modeling, and shift-based output expectations.
    • Determine labor requirements for operating the equipment, including staffing levels, operator tasks, ergonomics, and skill requirements.
  • Coordinate manufacturing requirements with Production and Process Engineers, ensuring alignment of equipment capability, staffing plans, and workflow design.
  • Coordinate equipment OT/Automation requirements with the Automation Team, ensuring controls, data collection, MES/SCADA integration, and safety systems are defined early in the design phase.
  • Assist the Equipment Project Engineer with gathering quotes from integrators, including sending technical packages, reviewing proposals, and comparing cost, scope, and capability across vendors.
  • Support equipment design reviews, providing manufacturing, layout, ergonomic, and workflow input to ensure equipment meets production needs and adheres to safety and quality requirements.
  • Assist Automation/OT/Project Engineers with establishing best practices for new and existing equipment, including standardizing operating parameters, safety features, and automation design guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Product Design Teams/APQP to apply "Design for Manufacturing (DFM)" principles, ensuring part designs minimize complexity, reduce failure modes, and support stable automated manufacturing.
  • Create and maintain PFMEA documentation for equipment during the design phase, identifying potential failure modes and recommending mitigation strategies before launch.
  • Determine optimal material flow into and out of the equipment, including operator movement, WIP handling, logistics interface points, and workstation layout design.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), verifying equipment performance, validating safety and quality functions, and ensuring the equipment meets manufacturing requirements before production release.
  • Review new technologies, benchmarking them against other Magna divisions, as well as, other manufacturing facilities to determine their relevance.
  • Review ergonomics for building and inspecting procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required

Educational Requirements
  • A bachelor degree in an Engineering Science or Technology area.
  • Exposure to DFMA, synchronous manufacturing, and ergonomics.

Related Work Experience
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient computer skills a must (Word, Excel, Project, AutoCAD)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a minimal supervision and participate as a team player.
