Advanced Imaging Authorization Specialist – Full-Time Position – Raleigh Location-Hybrid Schedule
We’re seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Advanced Imaging Authorization Specialist to join our team. This key role ensures timely insurance authorization and coordination of MRI and diagnostic imaging services ordered by our providers, while delivering exceptional service to our patients.
This is a hybrid position, requiring three (3) days per week in our Raleigh office and two (2) remote workdays. In-office days follow a rotating schedule model determined by management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify and complete insurance pre-certifications for advanced imaging orders and diagnostic tests
- Accurately document authorization details in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Communicate with patients and providers regarding authorization status and next steps
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage requirements
- Verify benefits to determine patient financial responsibility
- Coordinate and schedule MRI and other diagnostic tests
What You Bring:
- At least 2 years of experience in medical insurance, billing, or prior authorizations strongly preferred
- Orthopaedic background strongly preferred
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding preferred
- Proactive professional who takes ownership of their work, demonstrates critical thinking skills, and is committed to delivering a positive patient experience
- Strong computer and data entry skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, and team members
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment
