POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services, the Assistant Director of Nursing assumes delegated responsibility and accountability for the provision of resident care according to professional standards of nursing practice in compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations.
The ADON will:
- Implement nursing policies and procedures that reflect the facility’s mission and philosophy.
- Conduct education, infection control, quality assurance and admissions screening functions as assigned
- Utilize resources in an efficient and economic manner to ensure that each resident achieves the highest practicable physical, mental and psycho-social well being.
- Supervises licensed nurses and other nursing personnel in the delivery of care and services according to each resident’s comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
LICENSE:
Current, active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. Must have no restrictions on license.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years experience providing direct care to residents in long term care setting preferred. Prior experience as unit Charge Nurse or similar supervisory experience preferred.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Successful performance of this job classification can best be achieved through consistent application of current knowledge, use of good judgement, common sense, ability to establish and carry out priorities, effective use of interpersonal skills and ongoing communication with residents, staff, families, interdisciplinary team members and government officials including State surveyors and ombudsmen.
- Must meet all performance standards as delineated in the job description.
Skills Required
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
