WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Demonstrates the ability to perform with minimal guidance administrative functions required in the relevant area of assignment in a safe, healthy, efficient and economical manner. Demonstrates competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle accounting/material management projects and assignments (dividing the work into steps/goals and performing the analysis necessary to complete each step/goal). Exhibits technical ability with minimal guidance to incorporate AEP's General Terms and Conditions, specifications, standards, codes and regulations relevant to accounting/materials management. Demonstrates ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to our business processes including new developments, technologies, procedures and equipment. Exhibits ability to understand relationships between departments and locations in area of assignment.
Participates in the development of accounting/materials management procedures. Coordinates daily activities in accounting/materials management area. Develops plans by establishing measurable goals, objectives and requirements relative to specific area of responsibility. Plan and schedule daily activities within group. Participates in company and contractor's meeting, as requested. Understands and uses scheduling techniques for budgeting activities. Maintains required records to support assignments and preparation of reports and audits.
Demonstrates ability to identify problems that are beyond the normal routine. Works independently to identify, clarify, resolve and initiate solutions to problems that require multi-functional/organizational interfacing and/or multi-disciplined analytical techniques. Demonstrates ability and desire to seek out all opportunities and embrace new ideas and approaches. Uses economic analysis techniques in problem solving.
Communicates, listens, promotes, encourages and develops ideas clearly with team, management and customers/ contractors/vendors. Develops, reviews or presents reports such as improvement requisitions, studies and analysis, clearly, concisely and effectively.
Understands AEP's organizational structure and the specific role and responsibility of their business unit.
Makes decisions within authorized limits. Builds consensus regarding decisions. Develops an understanding of the utility regulation and financing. Makes decisions that affect the work of the team.
Analyzes options and risks. Encourages and promotes positive business opportunities.
Coordinates activities of others within the work group including those internal and external to the Company. Follows policies, practices, standards and rules of the Company and those regulations and procedures required by external agencies. Provides training, guidance and performance improvements projects and activities for subordinates. Leads team activities and actively contributes to team goals. Networks with peers inside and outside AEP system. Uses informal network to get things done.
Manages conflict and builds consensus.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Education requirements are listed below: Bachelors Degree in a related field from an accredited school with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting or Material Management, or equivalent education/work experience.
