Job Description

Position Overview:

As a Systems Administrator III, OT Infrastructure at Invenergy, you will be working in a highly virtualized hybrid server landscape. In this role, you will serve as the technical expert and authority for Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V and VMware ESX, Microsoft Azure, and other enterprise Microsoft technologies. You will be in a key role on Invenergy’s OT Infrastructure team where you will provide proactive systems maintenance and support to the company’s most critical systems and datacenters. You will be the third point of escalation in the incident support process, as well lead investigations in resolving complex incidents. You will work alongside other IT teams such as Program Management, Business Applications, Security, Networking, and Endpoint to resolve issues and participate in projects that deliver IT solutions to the company. You will be an important contributor to the OT change management process, as well as participate in the after-hours support rotation. Job Responsibilities:

  • Proactively maintain server & storage systems, including but not limited to; conduct regular OS and application updates/patching, implement/monitor/administer server backups, monitor and manage system capacities and address resource constraints before they become serious problems, identify and deliver on other areas of regular proactive maintenance that minimizes unexpected downtime increases system availability and performance. 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve server and storage-related problems, as escalated by the Service Desk and via automated monitoring alerts, following the company’s incident response and escalation policy.

  • Build new servers on-premises and in Azure, as needed for projects and support.

  • Conduct communications room (IDF) and datacenter design and implementations following best practices for layout, airflow, cabling, and battery backup. 

  • Lead disaster recovery failover events and testing for critical business applications.

  • Serve as the Microsoft Windows Server, Hyper-V and VMware ESX Virtualization, and Active Directory technical authority on the Server team.

  • Provide leadership in defining and drafting governance such as standard operating procedures, server build standards, technical support, and best practices.  

  • Participate in projects, including those driven by IT and also those driven by other business.

  • Participate in the IT after-hours support rotation and operations duty following the company’s incident response and escalation policy.

  • Participate in the IT Change Management process and regularly scheduled maintenance windows.

  • Develop communication channels with key business owners and users of business applications and understand the importance of such apps and usage schedules.

  • Provide technical and career development mentoring and guidance to junior staff.

  • Adhere to the company’s policies, values, and behaviors while providing competent, proactive support to the company’s server and storage environments and delivering IT solutions.

  • Participate in Invenergy-hosted 101’s, training sessions, and events offered by other departments to increase knowledge in Invenergy’s core business and the broader renewable energy industry.

  • May require occasional travel to local or remote offices, datacenters, and power generation sites in the USA and abroad for supporting systems and project-related work.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an information technology or related field. 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Windows Systems Engineer or Administrator role with in-depth experience in the following technology areas: Hyper-V and VMware virtualization; active directory support and administration; design, build, and support systems in MS Azure; and PowerShell.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills, and ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Works well alone and in a team setting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • May require travel to Invenergy datacenters and offices and requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel by air domestically or internationally.

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MCSE Core Infrastructure and/or MCSE Azure Administrator.
