We are seeking a Education Options Administrative Specialist to join our Director’s Office School Choice, Options, and Recovery Education at the Oregon Department of Education. This is a permanent position represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).  
 

This position follows a hybrid work model. Onsite presence will be required when business or operational needs are best supported in person, such as collaboration, training, or work that requires access to onsite resources. Employees approved to work remotely must have a reliable and secure internet connection and maintain a professional work environment that supports productivity. While working remotely, employees are expected to maintain the same level of performance, responsiveness, communication, and availability as they would in the office. 

 

What you will do!   

Provide administrative support to the School Choice, Options, and Recovery Education team by helping with program implementation, team coordination, and program planning. This position is instrumental in collaboration with multiple teams to create and maintain efficient systems for SCORE programs with an emphasis on Alternative Education and Public Charter Schools. This staff member will schedule and maintain meetings and communicate with school districts, ESDs, and other education partners across the state. Research, plan, and book travel for team members including processing reimbursement claims. This position will draft letters, emails, materials, and support program staff with editing and publishing guidance. This position maintains program directories and databases. 

 
 

Typical duties include: 

  • Provide administrative support to the SCORE team with an focus on public charter schools and alternative education programs.  

  • Process virtual public charter school enrolment appeals 

  •  Maintain and update program databases and program guidance. 

  • Provide direct support to schools, districts, and families regarding SCORE programs.

Minimum Qualifications: ODE reviews resumes to determine whether applicants meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR 

An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR 

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience organizing site visits and meetings with partner organizations involving travel.
