Description of Work

Reporting to Warden II, this position is responsible for administering and managing the complete business and human resource management functions at Sanford Correctional Center.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Managing and supervising budgets, accounting, human resources, canteen, clothes-house, mailroom, and trust fund. Assigning and monitoring the work efforts of subordinate staff.
- Planning and monitoring budgets, approval of expenditures, purchasing of supplies and equipment, inventories, establishment and monitoring of temporary employees and personal service contracts, fiscal audit functions, canteen, mailroom, and warehouse/clothes operations.
- Overseeing human resource operations to include hiring, benefits, timekeeping, FIORI, and staff disciplinary actions.
- Enforcing all State administrative policies and procedures pertaining to the operation of a correctional facility and ensuring all areas of supervision comply with the administrative practices of the Department of Adult Correction and applicable State regulations.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $45,431.00 - $79,504.00

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

Sanford Correctional Center is located in Sanford, North Carolina and houses up to 298 male offenders in a minimum custody facility.

The salary grade for this position is NC11.  State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.  If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.  Based upon these factors, a pay increase May result.
