Undergraduate Summer Internship ProgramPurpose:
Foster development of future leaders in healthcare through experience and mentorship
Provide applicable health care industry experience for the intern
Assist departments with short term project needs (process improvement)
Job Description:
Qualified Candidates:
- Must be a rising senior at an accredited undergraduate program majoring in health administration, health policy, health sciences, business administration, public health or other field related to health management/administration
- Internship must be required by academic program to complete graduation requirements (i.e. credits will be given for completion of internship)
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week for at least 10 weeks (400 hours)
- Intern must be able to commute to LHMC location (Burlington, Peabody, Lexington and Lynnfield)
The Program:
- Application

o Applicants may be asked to formally interview (can be done virtually to accommodate academic schedules)
o Accepted applicant(s)will be notified no later than 4/30
- Program/Internship Goals
o Gain applicable real life job experience in hospital operations
o Continue to develop and apply classroom skills outside of the classroom
o Project management of a short term process improvement project over a 10 week period with a presentation to team/leadership at the end of the internship
- Daily Activities
o Shadowing/Observing/Training
o Attends upper-level meetings with supervisor/manager
o Assist with department small projects/tasks
o Continually work on process improvement project as outlined with supervisor/manager
o Attend trainings as needed
- Training Supervision
o Intern will be supervised by a supervisor/manager within hospital operations
o Intern may also assist Admin Coordinator to the Chair with responsibilities/tasks
- Meetings
o Preceptor 1:1’s - weekly
o Department/Staff Meetings
o Informational Interviews/Meetings with other Leaders/Departments
Pay Range:
$15.00 - $15.00The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
