About the Opportunity:
The John Nicholas Brown Center(JNBC) focuses on promoting the broad public discussion and dissemination of academic research and scholarship across the full range of disciplines.
Responsibilities:
Professor of Africana Studies and Primary Investigator (PI) for the Systemic Racism Project (SRP), working in collaboration with the John Nicholas Brown Center for Advanced Study (JNBC), seeks applicants for a part-time Administrative Coordinator. The position reports to the PI and is responsible for managing the PI’s calendar and communications, serving as the central point of contact for the PI’s communication with internal and external parties. This includes organizing and scheduling meetings and, under the PI’s direction, organizing and responding appropriately to email correspondence.
Other responsibilities include making travel arrangements and submitting expense reports promptly that are in complete alignment with university policies, practices, and guidelines.
The position coordinates efficiently and effectively with SRP and JNBC staff, ensuring transparent and responsive communication regarding the PI’s calendar, priorities, and related deadlines.
On an ad hoc basis, the Administrative Coordinator may occasionally assist the SRP Digital Marketing Manager and/or JNBC Center Manager with updates to relevant websites and social media.
This is a part-time, hybrid-eligible position, 15-18 hours a week on average, with flexible working hours and time off.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Associate's degree with a minimum of 3 years of related administrative experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in a University environment is preferred.
Job Competencies
Excellent administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written); professional and courteous demeanor; applies tact and discretion appropriately.
Must be dependable.
Self-starter with confident planning and task management skills and a consistent ability to produce high-quality work in a timely manner.
Knowledge of (or desire and ability to learn) website content management systems and social media platforms.
Experience processing and tracking financial transactions, including expense reporting.
Strong attention to detail, including strong proofreading skills.
Initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to think and act independently and to handle competing priorities and changing priorities with ease.
