THIS IS AN ANTICIPATED VACANCY - 7/01/2026
This administrative position is located in the Division 10 Right of Way Office in Albemarle, NC. The primary duties of this position are to provide secretarial and administrative support to the unit. This position involves preparing right of way claims, invoices, correspondence and other documentation for processing and mailing. Other duties include entering data into SAP, entering statistical data on various spreadsheets, answering phones, filing, and assist with incoming mail. Must be able to type accurately. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, the public and other branches of transportation. Must have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail are essential requirements for this position. Employee must be able to organize and prioritize work, be flexible with changes in work assignments and deadlines while working accurately and independently. Other general office responsibilities will be assigned as necessary. Knowledge in state government related personnel policies, procedures and programs. Must have the ability to work closely with others and possess good communication skills, both orally and in writing. Must have computer experience including Word and Excel; experience with SAP/BEACON is preferred. Experience reading maps and using online mapping applications preferred. The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade: NC02: Salary Range: $31,200 - $51,249

Management prefers applicants with the following:

  • Experience in record keeping

  • Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues

  • Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Access, Word, and Excel

  • Experience with letter writing, using correct spelling, punctuation and proofreading

  • Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws

Minimum Education and Experience
