Job Description:

Under the supervision of a Senator, the Administrative Assistant performs administrative and office management tasks.
Salary $21.92/hour ($45,594/year) up to $24.657/hour ($51,287/year)


 

Job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Answers calls, receives visitors, manages correspondence, answers inquiries and facilitates interoffice communications
  • Disseminates information to Senators and Legislative staff along with external contacts such as constituents, the media, lobbyists and others
  • Monitors and routes email and mail, reviews with Senator and tracks correspondence
  • Maintains confidential correspondence, including with constituents, subject matter and legislative files
  • Maintains Senator's calendar and schedule
  • Maintains office supplies, equipment and inventory
  • Monitors news media for issues and information related to legislative business
  • Provides general support to office visitors
  • Performs constituent services

Other duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Monitoring legislation and public hearings
  • Coordinates bill hearings with Senator's calendar and stakeholders
  • Maintains constituent mailing list. Assembles and sends mass mailings
  • Assists with communications such as press releases, newsletters and digital communications
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Knowledge of office computer applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with Senators, Legislative staff, stakeholders and the public
  • Ability to work independently, organize and manage work while maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to produce quality work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule including working nights and weekends
