2026-09-11About the RoleUCAR is excited to announce the role of Administrative Assistant III, which will support the Friends of the National Center. This position will provide advanced administrative support for the Friends of the National Center program office, a UCAR-established alumni and community engagement program supporting the U.S. National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Friends builds relationships across a network of current and former UCAR/NCAR staff and the broader community to raise philanthropic revenue for the Earth system sciences, STEM education, early-career initiatives, and scientific collaboration.
Working closely with the Executive Director, this role helps build donor and stakeholder relationships, sustains engagement programs tied to revenue campaigns, and manages assignments that call for sound judgment, analysis, and initiative. Day-to-day, that means implementing policies and best practices, tracking incoming funds, corresponding with donors and alumni, maintaining membership data, and planning and staffing events. The role also sits on the UCAR President's Office Administrative team and provides regular updates on Friends' activities.
Job Description

Key Responsibilities
General Administrative Support
Plan and support events for fundraising, engagement, and other Friends' activities.
Prepare meeting materials and coordinate meeting presentations.
Manage purchasing in line with organizational policy.
Track and evaluate budgets and expenses.
Salesforce Database
Enter donation data into the CRM.
Generate reports and build dashboards.
Maintain data integrity of donor and prospect records.
Friends' Website
Create, develop, and update content using WordPress and Elementor.
Ensure web accessibility and brand-guideline compliance.
Travel
Attend the AMS Annual Meeting (January) and AGU Annual Meeting (December) as a community liaison, staffing the UCAR/NCAR booth and supporting related events.
Conference weeks may require 40+ hours; time is compensated.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education & Experience:
Experience in fundraising, non-profit administration, or event planning.
Experience with WordPress, Drupal, or similar website-editing platforms.
Experience using Salesforce CRM.
Familiarity with UCAR, NCAR, UCP, or Friends of the National Center.
Position Details: This position is part-time (24 hours/week), with an hourly rate range of $25.81 - $32.27/hr.
Work Location Expectations: This position is a hybrid role located in Boulder, CO, requiring 2 days in person and 1 day remote. UCAR requires ALL positions to be performed within the U.S., excluding U.S. Territories.
Additional Position Details: Because this position is part of the community-facing team for the UCAR President's Office and the Friends of the National Center, attendance at 2 conferences/year to serve as a booth staff member and engage with the public to represent the organization will be required. Conference weeks will require at least 40 hours of work and will be compensated accordingly.
