Administrative Assistant II-Nursing Services

About the Position: This position performs complex clerical work for one or more first-level managers, including but not limited to: Staff scheduling, assisting with payroll, secretarial duties, maintaining general office files and records, typing official meeting minutes, handling mail, answering phones, composing important correspondence without oversight, and interpreting administrative decisions and policies. This position also examines and verifies reports for completeness, attends conferences and meetings, and may serve as a timekeeper for assigned staff; and other duties as assigned. This particular position will assist our Nursing Services department, especially with scheduling. 

Job Type/Salary:

  • Typical working hours are Monday - Friday ranging between 6:00am - 7:00pm, as needed
  • 18.51 hour, plus generous benefits allowance
  • Non-exempt

Minimum Qualifications and Experience: This position requires 3 years of experience performing a variety of complex clerical and typing work; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Plus, knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. 
Experience with staffing and scheduling is preferred. 

Special Requirements:

  • Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.
  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.

About us: Griffin Memorial Hospital (GMH) is located in Norman, Oklahoma, and serves all 77 counties in Oklahoma as a Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) treatment center for adults. Griffin Memorial Hospital is a 120-bed acute psychiatric hospital serving persons aged 18 and over with severe mental illness and provides in-patient hospital care for those in need of mental health & substance abuse services.

Drug and Alcohol Pre-employment and Preplacement Testing:  Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants for safety sensitive positions shall be required to submit to urinalysis to test for drugs. Appointment to a safety sensitive position shall be contingent upon a negative drug test result.

THIS AGENCY REQUIRES COVERAGE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS PER WEEK. WORK HOURS AND LOCATION MAY VARY DEPENDING ON BUSINESS NECESSITY. EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK WEEKENDS AND OVERTIME.
