JOB SUMMARY

This position provides clerical and administrative assistance to the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2+ years of experience in the Legal field (pref. in the court system)
  • 1+ years of experience working in office administration
  • Ability to work as a team player with the other staff in the office
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be proficient in working with computers and software programs (MS Office)
  • Excellent skill in office organization and procedures
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Must have the skills to multitask on a daily basis
  • Must be an excellent typist 
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Must pass a Criminal Background check

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare and file motions with the District Clerk for felony cases.
  • Prepare and file charging instruments for felony cases.
  • Process lab reports.
  • Enter information into the felony criminal history automated system.
  • Prepare disposed cases for transport to the warehouse.
  • Prepare appropriate documents for filing Motions to Revoke Probation.
  • Run criminal histories as required for trial preparation.
  • Receives visitors and directs them to appropriate personnel.
  • Answer telephones, direct calls, and take messages as appropriate.
  • Maintain files and records for the department.
  • Develop and prepare a variety of reports as requested or required.
  • Type and prepare correspondence, notices, charges, and letters.
  • Aids department personnel as requested or required.
  • Prepare judgments & plea papers for daily court hearings.
  • Process bond forfeitures.
  • Perform standard office duties, including faxing, copying, and shredding, as requested.
  • Able to report regularly for work and be on time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
