Zeiss X-Ray Microscopy (XRM) is a world leader in high-resolution X-ray imaging devices. The Advanced Development and Design (ADD) team within XRM is responsible for long-term research into the technologies underlying our X-ray imaging devices, as well as novel imaging modalities and applications. We are seeking interns to support our research, ideally starting in Summer 2026 for a duration of up to six months. This position concerns characterizing experimental X-Ray Laminography for new academic/industrial applications. The position is based at the Zeiss Innovation Center California, in Dublin, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Engage in an X-ray system research project with the support of ZEISS XRM research scientists.
- Work with a dynamic research team from diverse technical backgrounds through all stages of the project and communicate research results to the broader XRM group.
Key Technical Qualifications:
- Experience with image-based characterization techniques, volumetric data analysis, or structure–property correlation in complex materials or devices.
- Research experience in a technical area where X-ray laminography or non-invasive 3D characterization would be valuable.
- Familiarity with thin-film devices, printed electronics, semiconductors, polymers, or additively manufactured materials is desirable.
- Strong scientific communication skills
- In the process of acquiring an advanced degree in science or engineering.
