The Role

The Opportunity

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support analytical work and enhancements related to Par management initiatives, governance policy regular review, fulfilment ratio reporting, OSFI DSR reporting as well as other team priorities.

  • Propose and develop principles or methodologies of Par-related topics and execute detailed implementation plans.

  • Perform dividend recommendations and conduct regular reviews in alignment with company’s strategy, policyholders’ reasonable expectations and economic conditions. Prepare proposal materials and documentation, explain the rationale/drivers for proposed dividend adjustments, and consider the comprehensive end-to-end business implications.

  • Actively engage with regulatory requirements and emerging standards, including GL34, Par Business Committee and Par Reform. Evaluate the implications for reporting, ensure compliance with business practices, and contribute to the design and application of industry and professional standards.

  • Develop projection for business planning, manage stakeholders across various functions, adapt timely to incorporating evolving business changes, and convey planning results to management while understanding the drivers of various financial outcomes.

  • Address technical enquiries from various stakeholders, including internal parties, regulators, auditors, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Qualified or nearly qualified fellow of professional actuarial organization.

  • 7-10 years of relevant working experience in the insurance industry.

  • Solid actuarial knowledge and experience, with specific expertise in Par Management within a direct life insurer being advantageous.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to work with complex financial issues and concepts, coupled with a keen attention to detail and innovative solution mindset.

  • Value good process and control, with the capability to deliver results under pressure and within tight deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is preferred; familiarity with AXIS model is a plus.

  • Capable of functioning effectively as both an individual contributor and a team player.

  • Effective communication and relationship skills.

  • Leadership capabilities, along with project and stakeholder management skills, with a willingness to lead, inspire, support, and develop junior colleagues.
