Candidates applying to this position may be hybrid or remote and can live in one of the following states: Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Texas.The Actuarial Analyst assists, advises, or consults with the Actuarial Services team and management with a variety of projects including pricing, reserving, trend evaluation, data gathering, and financial analysis. This role will contribute to the measurement and achievement of organizational profit, growth, information and planning objectives through the effective generation, verification, direction, development and reporting of product performance/financial information/actuarial research data and related information.
What you'll do:
- Under limited Supervision pulls, studies and analyzes health insurance data and applies methods of querying and analyzing data.
- Maintains and enhances assigned systems and models designed for various purposes such as claims reserving, pricing, trend analysis and forecasting.
- Apply fundamentals of forecasting and financial analysis in order to make recommendations to stakeholders for informed business decisions.
- Demonstrate understanding of intermediate actuarial concepts and the health insurance industry.
- Partner with other applicable areas to understand connections and impacts.
- Assist other Actuarial Services team members with projects as needed through support to the Actuarial Analysts, Actuarial Associates, Actuarial Consultants, Actuarial Partners and Leadership.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, or Actuarial Science or related field.
- Successful completion of at least (1) exam.
- Analyst II: 2 exams
- Analyst III: 4 exams
- Ability to understand programming basics and develop spreadsheet models, databases and statistical models.
- Ability to identify trends and patterns in data sets.
- Ability to understand complex ideas and technical data.
- Ability to successfully collaborate.
- Ability to identify and make recommendations to management.
- Ability to recognize opportunity for improvements, new ideas or innovative approaches.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:
- Will have completed related internship and/or (1) year of experience in actuarial analysis.
- Analyst II: Two (2) years of experience in actuarial analysis.
- Analyst III: Four (4) years of experience in actuarial analysis.
- Successful completion of at least (2) exams.
- Demonstration of achievement and progress towards ASA preferred.
