The Military/ Veteran Affairs Specialist will assist with the delivery of services and activities with specific focus on Veteran/Active Military Certification. This position reports to the Associate Vice President, Dean of Student Affairs.
This is a part-time, hourly position.
Example of Duties:
- Provide support and problem-solving assistance to veterans and active military students.
- Responsible for the annual update of the college catalog and student handbook changes for the active military/veteran affairs section.
- Serves as the Primary Certifying School Official, representing PCCC in all state and federal audits and reporting requirements related to veterans' educational benefits.
- Certify eligible veterans and military affiliated students in the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs database VAONCE.
- Stay current on changes and updates to U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs regulations.
- Assist veterans and active military with certification and pay issues, disseminate information about military and veteran's education entitlement programs and ensure institutional compliance with State and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures governing the administration of veterans' benefits.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in field or relevant.
- Knowledge of Ellucian Student Planning Module and communications module.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of advisement strategies, college policies and programs.
- Skilled in explaining complex technical matters related to student progress.
Preferred:
- Three or more years of progressive experience related to advising and working with military-connected students.
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay for this position is $25.
