As an ACS Manager, you’ll work exclusively in advisory services focusing on federal grant issues, operational improvement, forensic auditing, and GASB compliance for nonprofit and government clients. You’ll collaborate closely with seasoned professionals managing high-touch consulting engagements and special projects. The role offers flexibility for hybrid or remote work for candidates with deep expertise in federal compliance. Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage multiple client engagements related to:
- GASB implementation and compliance
- Federal grants management and Uniform Guidance compliance consulting
- Financial statement & single audit preparation and support
- Internal control assessments
- Operational consulting
- Forensic auditing
- Internal auditing
- Interpret and apply GASB standards, including Statements 34, 68, 87, 101, etc.
- Interpret and apply Uniform Guidance and unique federal agency requirements
- Provide technical guidance on federal grant accounting, including allowable costs, indirect cost rates, subrecipient monitoring, and audit preparation under Uniform Guidance.
- Perform complex accounting clean-up projects across spanning multiple fiscal years, applying both GASB and/or GAAP standards to ensure accurate and auditable financial records, while fully considering federal grant regulations and timing requirements.
- Maintain grants and subrecipient management activities on behalf of clients including the development of routine financial reporting, subrecipient risk assessments and monitoring, budget to actual reviews, documentation retention, etc.
- Advise clients on Washington State BARS (Budgeting, Accounting, and Reporting System) and GAAP reporting requirements.
- Develop and review primary government (city/county) financial reports, including MD&A, fund statements, and notes to the financial statements.
- Support forensic auditing, internal auditing, and operational consulting engagements related to grants management, not-for-profit and governmental accounting issues and processes, including the analysis of financial records, compliance assessments, and the identification of process improvements to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and optimize operational efficiency.
- Supervise and mentor staff accountants and consultants on technical accounting and grants management matters.
- Conduct training sessions for clients and internal teams on GASB updates, Uniform Guidance, and audit preparation.
- Collaborate with external audit teams and client stakeholders during entrance and exit conferences.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and meet quality standards
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred including the 5th year requirement completed or a combination of education and directly related work experience. CPA certification preferred. You must pass a credit check at any time to remain eligible for this position.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience providing a full spectrum of progressively more responsible assignments in accounting and consulting services in an array of industries including hands-on experience managing a variety of projects. The experience also needs to include governmental accounting or auditing, with a strong emphasis on GASB, federal grants or BARS accounting. Experience with ctcLink a plus.
Salary Range: $106,162 minimum to $159,243 maximum salary range
