Acoustic Systems Engineer
At Bose, better sound is just the beginning. We are looking to ignite your passion for the power of sound! Join our team of acoustic artisans who design and deploy Bose Active Sound Management (ASM) solutions into automobiles that enable occupants to rule the quiet while crafting sounds to connect the driver and machine in an immersive sensory experience.
We are creators of solutions that apply scientific methods to address a multitude of in-vehicle noise problems with our adaptive solutions. We have the pleasure of collaborating with OEM noise and vibration (NVH) engineers while tinkering with their prototype vehicles.
We obsess over the details to deliver extraordinary noise cancelling systems. We express our creative side while authoring & producing sounds that parallel the vehicle’s powertrain response and the desired design cues. We explore novel ideas in the pursuit of better ASM features, capabilities & services that deliver experiences consumers simply can’t get anywhere else!
Responsibilities include:
- Develop creative algorithms, tools or techniques that optimize effort, enhance performance or offer new benefits to our customers
- Use engineering judgement to identify the best components and calibrations that balance system performance & robustness
- Build concept systems that excite the customer- demonstrate Bose capability to solve vehicle issues
- Design & plan system level experiments to verify new designs in a vehicle environment
- Champion leadership - Mentor/tutor global peers, share the good news we’ve learned
- Measure and test our systems in vehicle - analyzing system performance characteristics
What makes you eligible
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Acoustics or Computer Science
- Significant experience in at least two of the following fields: acoustical engineering, digital signal processing, amplifier engineering, software development, psychoacoustics or recording arts
- Flexibility in work location: Bose Bloomfield Hills office plus travel to customer sites
- Typical business hours – first shift : 7am to 4pm;
- must be willing to adapt (within reason) based on vehicle availability
- must be willing to adjust work hours 2 days per week to champion collaboration with global peers
- This position requires the use of a Bose or customer-owned vehicle. As such, any offer of employment will be contingent upon having a clean driving record within the last 10 years

- Familiarity with audio performance metrics and tools for sound analysis. e.g. Audio Precision, MATLAB and/or Head Acoustics Artemis /Siemens Simcenter Test.lab
- Excellent understanding of signal processing fundamentals & control systems
- Knowledge of music theory & recording arts / synths with ability to operate a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)
