WHAT YOU’LL DO

As an Accounts Specialist (Accounting Assistant) at H&M, you have ownership for ensuring accurate and timely accounting bookings, in line with Global Accounting Routines and local legal requirements.
If you are detail-oriented, structured in your approach, and enjoy working with numbers and processes, this role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a well-functioning finance operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payments, bank reconciliations, and petty cash control
  • Manage fixed assets in line with Global Accounting Routines and local legislation
  • Secure correct booking of all regular monthly expenses to enable accurate budget follow-up
  • Process intercompany transaction invoices, ensuring full compliance with legal and tax requirements
  • Prepare and support monthly closing activities and reports for the Manager/Accountant
  • Collaborate with statutory auditors by providing required documentation and information
  • Support the Manager/Accountant in interactions with local tax authorities, including data preparation and follow-up
  • Report directly to the accountant

As an Accounts Specialist, you deliver results by taking strong ownership of your responsibilities and living H&M’s values in your daily work. You collaborate effectively with both local and global stakeholders to ensure smooth accounting workflows and strong alignment across teams.

You are comfortable working independently, while also acting as a “critical friend”—constructively challenging existing processes, promoting best practices, and contributing to continuous improvement. With strong analytical skills, you are able to anticipate potential challenges, suggest optimizations, and resolve issues in a structured and timely manner.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Finance or Accounting
  • Solid knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), International Standards of Auditing (ISA), and Income Tax regulations
  • Experience with SAP accounting systems is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience coordinating and working with stakeholders across different regions
  • A flexible mindset, positive attitude, strong sense of ownership, and the ability to work independently while contributing as a team player
