  • Handle complex and sensitive student accounts, providing tailored solutions to resolve payment issues.
  • Lead efforts to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the business office’s financial operations.
  • Actively participate in campus initiatives that promote financial literacy and support for students and families.
  • Provide direction and goal setting utilizing all the above in an effort to decrease the overall Accounts receivable balance to bring it to a minimum each billing cycle. 

Duties & Responsibilities:


Management of Accounts Receivable

  1. Oversee the comprehensive management of student accounts, including accurate billing and timely collections.
  2. Develop and manage payment plans, ensuring they meet the financial needs of students and families while maintaining the institution's fiscal integrity.
  3. Monitor and analyze accounts receivable aging reports, taking proactive measures to reduce outstanding balances.

Customer Service and Relationship Management

  1. Serve as the primary contact for students and families regarding account inquiries, payment options, and financial counseling.
  2. Educate and assist incoming students and their families in understanding and managing their financial obligations.
  3. Implement strategies to enhance customer service satisfaction, leading to significant improvements in student and family experiences.

Policy Development and Implementation

  1. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in developing and refining accounts receivable policies and procedures.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and implement processes that support student retention and success.
  3. Lead initiatives to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of accounts receivable operations.

Systems Management and Process Improvement

  1. Utilize Jenzabar and other financial systems to streamline accounts receivable processes and enhance data accuracy.
  2. Analyze system capabilities and work with IT to implement enhancements that support accounts receivable functions.
  3. Contribute to continuous process improvements by identifying inefficiencies and recommending innovative solutions.

Reporting and Compliance

  1. Prepare and present regular reports on accounts receivable status, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
  2. Ensure compliance with institutional policies and relevant regulatory requirements, including adherence to FERPA and other privacy laws.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts receivable, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Proficiency in Jenzabar or similar enterprise resource planning (CRM) systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing payment plans and improving accounts receivable collections.
  • Strong customer service background with a proven track record of enhancing satisfaction levels.
  • Experience in process improvement and implementation of financial policies and procedures.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of accounts receivable experience
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Proficiency in Jenzabar or similar ERP or CRM systems
  • Experience managing payment plans and improving accounts receivable collections
  • Strong customer service background with demonstrated success improving satisfaction
  • Experience in process improvement and implementing financial policies and procedures
