Summary
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for leading the company’s accounts payable function. This position oversees the accurate and timely processing of vendor and subcontractor invoices, payment processing, vendor compliance, and month end close.
The Accounts Payable Manager establishes and maintains standardized AP processes, ensures proper coding and approvals, monitors vendor relationships, and provides strong internal controls over cash disbursements. This role works closely with Regional Controllers and Collections to ensure invoices are accurately recorded and paid in accordance with company policies and project requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure consistency and standardization in all accounts payable functions and processes.
- Oversee the timely and accurate processing of vendor and subcontractor invoices, ensuring invoices are properly coded to the correct job, phase, cost code, and general ledger account.
- Provide direct supervision and mentorship to the accounts payable specialists.
- Monitor invoice approval workflows and follow up on outstanding approvals.
- Review accounts payable aging and identify past-due, duplicate, or disputed items.
- Maintain internal and external relationships with vendors and employees, including solving issues and discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain vendor compliance records (insurance certificates, tax forms)
- Schedule payment processing in accordance with Company policy and vendor payment terms.
- Review sales tax amounts charged by vendors to ensure compliance with state tax requirements.
- Support the monthly closing process by ensuring all invoices are processed before the cutoff date and reconcile vendor statements. Assist the Assistant Corporate Controller in closing accounts payable monthly.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
- Minimum 4 to 6 years of accounts payable experience required, construction industry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of job cost accounting.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (Spectrum experience strongly preferred).
- Exceptional organizational and leadership skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and enforce standardized processes across multiple divisions.
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s).
- Ability to pass drug screening.
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

Position Type, Travel, and Work Schedule
- Position Type: Full-time, office position.
- Travel: This role may require periodic travel to regional offices and off-site meetings as needed.
- Work Schedule: This role follows a standard full-time schedule; however, additional hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines. Due to construction-related demands, the position requires flexibility to work non-typical days and irregular hours. The role also requires availability to respond to phone calls outside of standard business hours.
