STAFF ACCOUNTING SUPPORT SPECIALIST
POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accounting Support Specialist combines senior-level accounting execution with Tier 1 technical and application support. This role focuses on core accounting operations, monthly close, reconciliations, and GAAP compliance while also supporting accounting systems, ERP tools, and user-reported issues. The position partners closely with Accounting, Finance, and Support teams and serves as a functional accounting expert with strong system and data proficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and review monthly, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries.
- Own balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis.
- Analyze balance sheet and P&L variances and provide clear explanations and corrective actions.
- Support monthly close activities and ensure adherence to close calendars and accuracy standards.
- Prepare accruals and analyze large datasets to support corporate accounting processes.
- Support intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations.
- Assist with data preparation and uploads into consolidation and reporting systems.
- Support internal and external audits and prepare required financial schedules.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal policies, and SOX-related controls.
- Identify and document process improvements and support internal control enhancements.
- Provide Tier 1 functional and technical support for accounting systems and applications.
- Troubleshoot user-reported accounting and system issues and document resolutions in CRM tools.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve data, system, and process-related issues.
- Support ad hoc analysis and special projects as assigned.
- Support flexible work hours during close cycles and peak periods.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Public accounting experience is preferred.
- Experience in a global or multi-entity environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience in software or SaaS companies is preferred.
- CPA or equivalent certification is preferred but not required.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Basic knowledge of SOX controls and internal control frameworks.
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis functions.
- Experience with ERP and financial systems, Dynamics AX and Cognos experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail with sound judgment and decision-making ability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in English.
