We are looking for an ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST in AMSTERDAM to perform accounting functions primarily related to accounts payable and to support the month-end close process for our EMEA entities. The Accounting Specialist will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet organizational objectives, including the timely payment of accounts payable and/or the collection of accounts receivable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently and effectively manage the accounts payable process for the Amsterdam office, including inputting and posting vendor payments, assisting with supplier dispute resolution, maintaining aging reports, and proactively clearing aged items.
- Generate and record payments to employees for payroll or reimbursements, and to vendors for goods or services.
- Assist with the month-end close for EMEA entities, including reconciling balance sheet accounts to the general ledger.
- Facilitate payment of vendor invoices via various methods (check, credit card, escrow, wire, ACH, etc.), ensuring all payments are made and recorded in the ERP system accurately and on time.
- Process customer or vendor RMAs and credits.
- Enter, apply, and post customer and supplier payments.
- Maintain AR and/or AP aging reports and take appropriate actions to keep accounts current.
- Generate payroll for assigned offices within the EMEA region.
- Review and process employee travel and entertainment expense reports in compliance with corporate policy.
- Process and record credit card expenses within the appropriate period.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a 4-year college degree in Accounting is preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in operational or financial accounting (AR, AP, etc.).
- Introductory knowledge of operational accounting principles.
- Working knowledge of applicable local and regional taxes.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong computer skills; experience with complex ERP systems is preferred.
