Job Summary: Revenue accounting specialist provides senior technical accounting expertise across key financial processes, with an initial focus on revenue recognition, accounts receivable, reconciliations, reporting, and internal controls for our Mexico and Guatemala operations. The ideal candidate has SAP B1 ERP experience, a solid understanding of SOX controls, and accounting expertise under US GAAP / local GAAP, specially in revenue and COGS. Reports to Accounting Leader.This role is expected to independently analyze accounting matters, investigate root causes, resolve complex issues, and drive sustainable process improvements. Experience in multinational, multi-entity, multi-currency environments and SOX-controlled organizations is highly desirable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Close
· Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, accruals, provisions, and reclassifications.
· Prepare and review Balance Sheet and P&L reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of outstanding items.
· Research technical accounting matters, analyze unusual balances, and recommend appropriate accounting treatments under US GAAP and local GAAP.
Revenue & Accounts Receivable
· Analyze revenue transactions to ensure accurate recognition, cut-off, completeness, and classification.
· Perform reconciliations between operational systems, subledgers, and the General Ledger. Analyze significant revenue balances and support reserves, adjustments, and corrective actions.
Reconciliations & Accounting Controls
· Own assigned account reconciliations and ensure timely identification and resolution of reconciling items.
· Execute and maintain SOX controls, including control testing, documentation, and remediation.
· Identify recurring differences and control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions and process improvements.
· Provide accounting and financial analysis to support business decision-making and identify risks and opportunities.
· Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve data quality, and reduce recurring adjustments.
Audit & External Stakeholders
· Support internal and external audits by preparing reconciliations, analyses, documentation, and supporting evidence.
· Coordinate accounting-related requests with external auditors and professional advisors.
· Support statutory, regulatory, and compliance requirements as needed.
· Support accounting activities across Mexico and other LATAM entities as required.
· Participate in regional finance projects and provide backup support for critical accounting processes.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· 5–7 years progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multinational or multi-entity environment. Strong experience in general accounting and month-end close.
· Experience in at least one or more of the following areas: revenue accounting, accounts receivable, financial reporting, COGS accounting.
· Hands-on, organized and proactive
· Experienced in SAP B1.
· Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS, and SOX control environment.
· Experience working with external auditors and professional advisors.
· Intermediate English (able to interact with corporate auditors and prepare documentation).
· Experience in multi-entity, multi-currency environments and intercompany processes is a plus.
