Job Summary
We are currently seeking Accounting Specialist, reporting directly to both local and head office Finance departments to join our Finance team based in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Accounting Specialist will ensure complete and systematic accounting records of receipts and disbursements in the organization by performing complex clerical and bookkeeping tasks and applying accepted procedures in preparing and maintaining accounting records.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accounting records, control sheets, journal entries, and general ledger accounts.
- Reconcile bank accounts, cash transactions, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Process payroll, calculate employee compensation and statutory deductions, and prepare payroll reports in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Prepare and process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including supplier invoices, customer invoices, and payment documentation.
- Allocate and classify expenditures, revenues, and other financial transactions to the appropriate accounts and cost centers.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation for management, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and provide supporting analyses for internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations, including VAT, personal income tax, and social security contributions, by accurately calculating, reporting, and filing tax obligations.
- Maintain accurate financial documentation and ensure proper filing and record retention in accordance with company policies.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis by providing accurate accounting data and reports.
- Collaborate with internal departments, banks, suppliers, customers, and external stakeholders to resolve accounting and financial matters.
- Monitor compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company financial policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and financial controls.
- Perform additional accounting, finance, and administrative duties assigned to support organizational objectives.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in MS Excel
- Native Azerbaijani and professional usage of English
- Understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures and the ability
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required with some bookkeeping coursework; associate’s degree in business or accounting preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in accounting and financial operations within multinational companies or other structured business environments
- Minimum 5 years of experience using ERP systems to support accounting, financial reporting, and business processes (Oracle would be a plus)
- Autonomy and responsibility in monthly, quarterly and year end accounting closing (will be checked by in phase of interview)
