We are looking for an Accounting Principal (all genders) for our Finance team in the heart of buzzing Berlin!
The Accounting Principal is a senior-level accounting expert responsible for assessing complex IFRS topics, preparing technical accounting memos, and ensuring the accuracy of consolidated financial figures during month-end and year-end closes. This role is also responsible for the preparation and accuracy of year-end notes disclosures under IFRS. Serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors, the Accounting Principal leads diverse projects such as internal controls review and process improvements, working closely with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and maintain the highest standards of financial compliance.
You will:
- Assess and interpret complex accounting issues and new IFRS standards, providing clear guidance and recommendations to management.
- Draft comprehensive technical accounting memos to document positions on IFRS topics and significant transactions.
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of consolidated financial statements and reports for month-end and year-end closes.
- Responsible for the preparation and quality of year-end notes disclosures in accordance with IFRS requirements.
- Act as the main liaison with external auditors, coordinating audit requests and ensuring timely resolution of audit issues.
- Lead and participate in diverse accounting and finance projects, including the design and enhancement of internal controls and process improvements.
- Support the implementation of new accounting policies, procedures, and systems as required.
- Provide technical accounting support and training to finance and accounting staff.
- Stay up to date on IFRS developments and emerging accounting issues relevant to the organization
You have
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA/CA/ACCA preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong background in IFRS and technical accounting research.
- Experience preparing consolidated financial statements and managing month-end and year-end close processes.
- Proven ability to write clear, concise technical accounting memos and documentation.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing year-end notes disclosures under IFRS.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working directly with external auditors.
- Demonstrated experience in leading or participating in internal controls and process improvement projects.
- Proficiency in accounting software; experience with Workday preferred
