Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Starting Pay: $30.50/hour, with higher pay available depending on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
We are hiring an Accounting & Payroll Specialist to handle weekly payroll, payroll tax activities, employee reimbursements, and a variety of accounting and employee-support functions.
The right candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with confidential payroll and financial information while managing multiple deadlines.
What You'll Handle
- Process weekly payroll for office and field employees.
- Maintain payroll records and review payroll processing systems for accuracy and timely processing.
- Enter and verify employee changes, including new hires, terminations, pay-rate changes, benefits, 401(k), garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Prepare, balance, and review payroll transactions and related records.
- Process weekly employee expense reimbursements.
- Provide administrative support to Human Resources as needed. Payroll Tax & Compliance
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings on a weekly, quarterly, and year-end basis.
- Assist with year-end payroll requirements, including W-2 preparation and processing.
- Maintain appropriate payroll records and documentation.
- Support internal and external audits by gathering requested records and information. Accounting & Administrative Duties
- Assist the Accounting Department with day-to-day accounting activities.
- Process and reconcile company credit card transactions.
- Download and upload weekly data files related to health and dental insurance.
- Maintain accurate financial and employee records.
- Help ensure payroll and accounting information is complete, accurate, and submitted on schedule.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 3+ years of related experience.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, including:
- Payroll preparation and balancing
- Payroll taxes
- Internal controls
- Employee deductions and benefits
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting HR and Accounting functions.
