Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Close

  • Lead and oversee daily accounting, treasury, and inventory management activities.
  • Own and maintain manufacturing cost accounting processes, including standard costing, variance analysis, and cost allocation methodologies.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure accurate tracking of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), finished goods, and scrap.
  • Review and analyze inventory valuation, reserves, and obsolescence in accordance with GAAP.
  • Support month-end inventory close processes, including inventory reconciliations and production cost roll-ups.
  • Manage timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll tax, inventory, fixed assets, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and bank reconciliations.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare, review, and analyze GAAP-compliant financial statements (Canadian and U.S.).
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls, US GAAP, and internal accounting policies.
  • Support internal and external audits and act as a key point of contact for auditors.
  • Maintain strong documentation and internal control frameworks appropriate for a scaling organization.

Systems, Process & Scale-Up Support

  • Support ERP implementation and optimization (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred) across all operations.
  • Develop, document, and improve accounting processes, policies, and procedures to support growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, and FP&A to improve reporting accuracy and visibility, including manufacturing and cost accounting considerations.
  • Adapt quickly to shifting priorities during organizational design reviews and finance team evolution

Key Qualifications

  • CPA designation preferred (or actively working toward designation).
  • 5–6 years of hands-on accounting experience, including ownership of full-cycle accounting.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, metals, chemicals, industrial, clean-tech, or capital-intensive environments strongly preferred.
  • Experience producing GAAP-compliant financial statements in multi-entity or cross-border (Canada/U.S.) environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of SOX controls and other public company requirements and US GAAP.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams (ideally 5+ direct reports).
  • Advanced Excel and Database skills; experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a strong asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and project management capabilities.

Core Competencies

  • Self‑starter who works well independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Able to balance hands‑on work with process design and team leadership.
  • Highly adaptable and resilient as the organization evolves.
  • Strong communicator who collaborates effectively across teams, including remote ones.

What We Do

Cyclic Materials transforms yesterday’s waste into tomorrow’s critical materials. We’re creating a circular supply chain for the rare earth elements and critical materials that power our global economy, without compromising quality or environmental impact.

Our proprietary two-phase process is unlocking value from discarded waste. Our MagCycle℠ technology simplifies the separation of rare earth magnets and critical metals from end-of-life electric vehicles, consumer electronics, wind turbines, and MRIs. Then our REEPure℠ technology restores those valuable materials back to their raw form, unlocking new revenue streams for metal buyers and feedstock companies. We are the only high-tech recycling company offering a scalable, efficient, and low-carbon recycling solution that complements mining on both quality and cost, and mitigates the risks associated with extraction.

Cyclic Materials is setting a high bar for sustainable resource recovery. We’ve solved the barriers to creating a circular economy for rare earths, and our transparent, data-driven approach ensures the highest standards of sustainability and traceability, including rigorous Scope 3 carbon tracking and water efficiency.

With USD $83.5M in funding, including USD $53M in Series B funding backed by partners like Microsoft and BMW i Ventures, we’re scaling our recycling infrastructure across North America and Canada to meet global demand.

Cyclic Materials is establishing a more resilient, domestic supply chain for rare earths and critical metals, providing opportunity and value for global industries.
