The Accounting Manager will play an essential part in the month-end close and will help implement new accounting policies and procedures. There will be additional opportunities to get involved in ad-hoc finance projects that will help to form the future of the company. This position reports to the Controller and will be an integral part of the finance team.

**This position is based full time on-site in Dallas, TX. Up to 10% travel may be required.**

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end close process including related journal entries, account reconciliations, international consolidation of multiple entities and working papers and ensure compliance with US GAAP. 
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet general ledger accounts, including, but not limited to, cash and investments, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payable, and accrued liabilities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D and non-finance/accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate financial data.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Controller to assist with the preparation of annual financial statements, cash flows and associated notes.
  • Support the annual audit process and other audit requests.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
  • Continuously analyze current accounting/finance processes and internal controls and present improvement suggestions, as needed. Ensure that internal policies and SOX procedures are adhered to.
  • Ownership of ad-hoc projects and analysis to support business decision making and mitigate risks.  
  • Proactively provide observations/recommendations to all levels of management in order to gain efficiencies in the monthly GL Close process. Assist in making necessary changes to gain efficiencies identified.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with US GAAP and financial reporting.
  • High degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to function well in a growth-oriented, nimble environment. Willingness to contribute where support is needed across finance. 
  • Ambitious with a desire to continue to learn.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to help make strategic decisions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly so others can understand.
  • Practiced interpersonal skills.
  • Accounts Payable, Invoicing, and Payroll experience are a plus.
  • Experience with NetSuite, Quickbooks, Bill.com preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, including Vlookups and Pivot Tables preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field).
  • 4 or more years of accounting experience is required.
  • Previous experience with a Big 4 Accounting firm is a plus.
  • Previous experience in the biotech industry is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast growth scale up or start-up is a plus.
