SUMMARY OF DUTIES

To assist in the preparation of financial statements, and the general day-to-day financial management functions such as cost accounting, A/P, A/R, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED

1.    Manages the general accounting activity of the site, and may include functions such as A/P, A/R, and cost accounting.
2.    Assists in the preparation of corporate financial statements and month end reports to provide Merit with the financial information reflecting its current financial position in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
3.    Prepares and assembles budgets for site location.
4.    Reconciles bank accounts to the general ledger for site location.
5.    Typically manages cost accounting related activities and is responsible for maintaining all cost data and working with operations to improve cost controls and overall manufacturing expenses.
6.    Reconcile intercompany balances and ensures intercompany agreement terms and settlements are paid accurately.
7.    Reconciles general ledger accounts.
8.    Performs financial analyses on special projects.
9.    Performs other related financial functions to assist the Corporate Controller to maintain records in a proper manner and ensure that corporate resources are protected.
10.    Performs other related duties, as required.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•    Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree with extensive course work in Accounting and Finance.
•    A minimum of six years of responsible work experience with emphasis in preparing financial reports.
•    Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs. 
•    Accuracy and attention to detail in performing responsibilities. 
•    Ability to communicate effectively with accounting staff and with department head and managerial level employees, and the ability to work well in a team atmosphere.
•    A thorough understanding of the use of financial management and accounting information, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
