The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing key accounting functions, including but not limited to: Daily Operations, General Ledger, Developing & Mentoring Accounting Staff, Month-End-Close & Financial Reporting. This role will have one direct report and will work closely with other departments to ensure financial records accurately reflect business operations & promote a culture of collaboration within Dispel.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Oversee the general ledger accounting functions
- Review journal entries prepared by the Accounting Clerk
- Prepare journal entries for review by Treasurer
- Account Reconciliations
- Supervise, train & mentor accounting staff
- Manage daily accounting operations
- Ensure vendor payments are made timely
- Monitor customer receivables
- Take full ownership of month-end & year-end close
- Prepare accurate financial statements
- Review results w/Treasurer
- Lead quarterly Balance Sheet Reviews
- Identify opportunities for process improvements & adjustments to workflows
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and special projects as necessary
- Liaison with other internal departments

- Accounting operations run smoothly, predictably & timely, while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- The GL is accurately maintained & reconciled
- Financial variances are not just identified, but thoroughly understood and clearly communicated
- Viewed as a known collaborative partner across departments
- Staff team feels mentored, engaged, and performs productively under your leadership
- Internal controls and/or process improvements within managed areas are properly documented/updated and consistently applied
Qualifications/Bonus Points
- 5+ years in accounting, with a strong knowledge of GAAP
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- CPA license is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and variance analysis
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with NetSuite is preferred
- Advanced Excel skills
- Proven experience in managing & developing accounting staff
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with non-finance departments
