JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee our inventory accounting processes while also contributing to various other accounting functions within the organization.

In this role you will work with business partners across the organization to ensure data is complete, accurate, and timely. This person will be responsible for daily accounting, month-end close processes, overseeing payroll and budgets while keeping a keen eye on efficiency improvement.

The ideal candidate will manage all responsibilities related to inventory, commercial sales, material pass-through, cost allocations, and cost of goods sold activities for our two manufacturing sites. This role will work closely with Supply Chain, and other departments, in overseeing inventory valuations, validating BOM (bill of materials) accuracy, item units of measure, and proper item categorization. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial close processes. Ensure all accounts are reconciled, adjusting entries are posted, and financial statements are finalized in a timely manner.
  • Oversee all aspects of inventory accounting including inventory valuation, sales, cost of goods sold, and other production related activities.
  • Track and report inventory movements for raw materials, work in progress, finished goods, and customer owned inventory.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in compliance with US GAAP and company standards.
  • Assist with ERP implementation and other process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements and safeguard company assets.
  • Prepare inventory account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to monitor inventory levels, assess valuation methods, optimize inventory turnover, and accuracy of inventory transactions.
  • Review and manage cycle counts, scrap, inventory obsolescence, and physical inventory counts.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure adherence to tax laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Provide cross-functional accounting support by performing additional accounting functions as needed, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong understanding of inventory/cost accounting. Experience in Inventory management preferred.
  • Proficiency in ERP software (Microsoft Dynamics 365) is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
