Position Summary

The Accounting Manager leads day-to-day accounting across DeWys Metal Solutions and its family of businesses, including DeWys Manufacturing, ReFab, DeWys Stainless Solutions, Wyze Design, and Shoreline Powder Coating. This role owns the financial close, accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and the accuracy of manufacturing and inventory accounting.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager leads and develops the accounting team and partners with leaders throughout the business. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who can set priorities, review work, solve problems, improve processes, and explain financial results in a way that helps others take action.

What you'll do: 

Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across the DeWys businesses, ensuring deadlines are met and financial information is accurate.

• Own the preparation and review of financial statements, management reports, general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial schedules.

• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, unusual transactions, and reporting issues.

• Lead accounting preparation for external audits, tax activities, and other financial reporting requirements in partnership with the Director of Finance and outside advisors.

• Establish clear accounting procedures and ensure they are followed consistently across the organization.

Manufacturing & Cost Accounting

• Own the accuracy of inventory accounting, product costing, standard costs, and manufacturing variance reporting.

• Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs; work with Operations to understand variances and address underlying issues.

• Oversee accounting processes related to inventory controls and physical inventories.

• Ensure manufacturing financial data is complete, reliable, and useful for operational decisions.

Financial Analysis & Planning

• Analyze performance, profitability, working capital, and key financial drivers; share findings and recommendations with business leaders.

• Lead the accounting team’s contributions to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.

• Develop reports and dashboards that help leaders understand results and make informed decisions.

Controls & Continuous Improvement

• Own and strengthen accounting controls, policies, and procedures to protect company assets and maintain the integrity of financial information.

• Identify gaps in processes, reporting, and systems; lead practical improvements and automation efforts.

• Help guide the effective use and continued development of the company’s ERP and financial systems.

• Address audit findings and put lasting corrective actions in place.

Team Leadership & Business Partnership

• Direct, coach, and develop the accounting team, including setting priorities, assigning work, reviewing performance, and building accountability.

• Ensure the team has clear processes, appropriate cross-training, and the skills needed to meet business needs.

• Serve as a trusted financial partner to leaders across Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and other functions.

• Explain financial information clearly to non-financial leaders and help them understand the actions they can take.

• Keep the Director of Finance informed of significant risks, results, and decisions that need broader finance leadership.

• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. 

Requirements

What you'll bring:

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and close processes.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing accounting, including inventory, product costing, overhead, and variance analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to spot discrepancies and explain what the numbers mean for the business.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP and accounting systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across the organization.
• Sound judgment, discretion, accountability, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA designation or progress toward certification preferred.

Experience

• Five or more years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including financial reporting and month-end close.
• Manufacturing experience that includes inventory and cost accounting.
• Experience with an ERP or financial accounting system.
• Experience with job costing, manufacturing variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or financial planning preferred.
• Experience with system improvements, automation, or management reporting preferred.
• Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the team member regularly communicates with office and shop-floor team members and uses a computer daily. The position requires periods of sitting, standing, and walking, including occasional time on the manufacturing floor. The team member may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment includes office and manufacturing settings; appropriate PPE is required in designated areas.
