Kikoff: The Fintech Powering Financial Security at Scale
Kikoff is a profitable, pre-IPO fintech company on a mission to empower everyone to achieve financial security. With record revenue growth in 2025 and a unicorn valuation, we've built a suite of products that help millions of people build credit, access liquidity, and save money.
We're scaling fast. Join us if you want to build something meaningful and help millions of people move forward financially.

Why Kikoff:

This is a consumer fintech startup, and you will be working with serial entrepreneurs who have built strong consumer brands and innovative products. We value extreme ownership, clear communication, a strong sense of craftsmanship, and the desire to create lasting work and work relationships. Yes, you can build an exciting business AND have real-life real-customer impact.

About the Role

We’re looking for an Accounting Manager to own operating expenses and general accounting
end-to-end. This role is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and scalability of our financials
across all non-revenue areas. This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership. You will lead the close, manage a team of two, and build systems and processes that scale with the business. You’ll operate with high ownership and strong judgment, partnering closely across Finance and the business to ensure financials are accurate, well-understood, and reliable.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys being close to the details while building
processes that scale. It reports to the US Controller and is based in our San Francisco office.

Examples of Key Problems the Team Is Working On

• Build public-company-ready financial infrastructure ahead of an IPO - systems, close automation, and the controls that come with them.
• Take the close from manual and reactive to predictable and fast across multiple entities, including intercompany and foreign currency activity.
• Own the full stack from vendor invoice to cap table, with AP, payroll, leases, fixed assets, and equity accounting under one roof.

Role Scope

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including consolidation and financial statement preparation across multiple entities, with intercompany and foreign currency activity in scope.
• Manage all non-revenue accounting areas: operating expenses, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and equity accounting.
• Oversee the accounts payable function, and provide lighter-touch oversight of accounts receivable, through the AP/AR Specialist.
• Perform and review detailed flux and variance analysis, proactively investigating unexpected trends or anomalies in our financials.
• Partner cross-functionally to gather and validate financial data, and to make sure the numbers are understood by the teams that drive them.
• Identify and drive improvements to accounting processes, systems, and controls to support scale, reduce risk, and prepare the company for future growth.
• Lead and develop a team of 2 (a Senior Accountant and an AP/AR Specialist), continuously improving close speed, reliability, and scalability.
• Lead the end-to-end audit process for non-revenue areas.
• Partner with external advisors and internal leadership on technical accounting.

What Success Looks Like

• The close is predictable and efficient, and financials are accurate.
• Operating expenses and cash flows are clearly understood, with visibility into key drivers.
• The audit process is organized and low-friction.
• Systems and processes are continuously improving and scaling with the business.
• You operate with high ownership and strong alignment, knowing when to move quickly and when to involve stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don’t fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
• You have 6+ years of accounting experience.
• You use AI tools as a real part of how you work - to move faster on preparation, reconciliations, research, and documentation - with the judgment to know what has to be verified before it touches the books.
• You’ve owned the close and the general ledger in a multi-entity environment, without a controller reviewing every entry first.
• You’ve set a close calendar and held FP&A, Tax, and cross-functional partners to it, instead of chasing them after the fact.
• You know US GAAP well enough to make the accrual, cutoff, and capitalization calls yourself, and to explain them clearly to an auditor.
• You’ve found a broken accounting process midstream and rebuilt it before it slowed down the close.
• You’ve taken accounting areas end-to-end through an external audit and worked directly with auditors, and you keep workpapers and schedules audit-ready year-round.
• You communicate clearly in writing and in person, you can walk a non-finance partner through a variance, push back on a business owner with data, and leave a reviewer with no follow-up questions.
• You’re comfortable in a modern finance stack – Claude, Codex, Snowflake, NetSuite, Ramp and Brex - and fast and accurate in Excel for anything the system can’t handle.
• You run multiple close cycles, audits, and process changes at once without dropping one when another gets hard.
• You hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Bonus: CPA and/or public accounting background; hands-on ERP implementation, migration, or upgrade experience

Base Range
$165,000$210,000 USD
