Position Summary
The Accounting Manager will lead day-to-day accounting operations for a manufacturing plant generating approximately $100 million in annual revenue. This role owns accounts payable invoice processing and three-way match (Purchase Order / Receipt / Invoice) controls, drives accrual and fixed asset & IFRS lease accounting, supports internal and external audit activity, and ensures accurate consolidation of plant-level results into the general ledger. The ideal candidate brings high energy, strong controls discipline, and the credibility to partner with plant operations, procurement, and corporate finance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end accounts payable invoice processing for the plant, ensuring timely, accurate, and policy-compliant disbursements.
  • Administer and strengthen three-way match (PO / Receipt / Invoice) controls to prevent pricing, quantity, and duplicate-payment discrepancies.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for internal and external audit requests related to AP, AR, accruals, fixed assets, lease assets and GL close; prepare supporting schedules and respond to findings.
  • Manage month-end accrual accounting, ensuring expenses are recorded in the correct period.
  • Leads month-end close process for plant finance team; includes post-close trial balance and account reconciliation reviews.
  • Maintain fixed asset and leased asset ledgers, including additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and periodic physical verification.
  • Lead general ledger consolidation for the plant, ensuring accurate roll-up into corporate financial statements and resolving intercompany/elimination discrepancies.
  • Partner with procurement, plant operations, and corporate accounting to resolve invoice, receiving, and purchase order exceptions. 
  • Support Operations with capital projects; maintain spend reconciliations to approved project budgets and assure timeliness of project completeness.
  • Maintain master data updates and controls; includes GL chart of accounts, vendor master, customer master, and item master.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across AP, AR, accruals, and close activities, leveraging CAMS, Sage, and Blackline.
  • Support the annual plant budget / costing process and submit periodic cash flow forecasts.
  • Assist Tax team with annual tax returns, property tax returns and other miscellaneous requests.
  • If applicable, supervise, coach, and develop AP/AR accounting staff, setting priorities and reviewing work quality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA license preferred but not required.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing or plant-support environment.
  • Hands-on experience with three-way match controls, accrual accounting, fixed asset accounting, IFRS 16 lease accounting and GL consolidation.
  • Prefer system proficiency in CAMS, Sage (ERP), Blackline (account reconciliation/close automation), and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring other employees preferred, though not required.
  • High energy, strong sense of ownership, and comfort operating in a fast-paced plant environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills.
