Westlake Financial is a fast-growing privately held finance company seeking a highly motivated Accounting Manager to join its expanding fintech-focused accounting team.
This role offers exposure to complex accounting operations across more than 15 consolidated companies, with opportunities to support process improvement, reporting, and team development.
Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing core accounting operations within an assigned functional area, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and the integrity of financial data. This role leads to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, manages account reconciliations, supports audits, and supervises accounting staff.
In addition to strong accounting expertise, the position supports process improvement initiatives, reporting enhancements, and operational efficiencies through the effective use of accounting systems, reporting tools, and automation technologies. The Accounting Manager partners cross-functionally with Finance, IT, FP&A, and Operations to strengthen financial processes, internal controls, and reporting capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting
- Lead close activities and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Analyze results, investigate variances, and share clear recommendations with management.
- Support audits, reporting requests, and updates to accounting policies and procedures.
Process Improvement & Systems Support
- Identify ways to simplify workflows, strengthen controls, and reduce manual effort.
- Support accounting system enhancements, automation efforts, and process improvement projects.
- Partner with Finance, IT, and business teams to improve data quality and reporting processes.
Reporting & Data Analysis
- Prepare recurring reports, reconciliations, and management reporting packages.
- Use data to identify trends, explain results, and improve visibility into accounting activity.
- Develop reporting enhancements that help leaders make informed business decisions.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members.
- Review work for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with accounting standards.
- Create a collaborative, accountable team environment focused on growth and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate priorities and deliverables to meet close and reporting deadlines.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong GAAP, general ledger, reconciliation, and financial reporting knowledge.
- Ability to analyze financial data, solve problems, and communicate insights clearly.
- Experience with ERP systems, Excel, and financial reporting tools.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective leadership, communication, and team development skills.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Experience with financial reporting, audits, internal controls, ERP systems, and reporting tools required.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation preferred.
- Experience with Power BI, automation, analytics, or accounting process improvement is a plus.
- Public accounting and industry experience strongly preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has direct supervisory responsibility for accounting staff within the assigned functional area. Responsibilities include work assignment, performance management, employee coaching and development, training, and ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables.
Confidentiality & Information Security
This role regularly handles confidential financial and operational information. The Accounting Manager is expected to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in accordance with company policies, accounting standards, and legal requirements.
What’s the expected pay for this role?
- Pay range of $120,000 - $155,000 (Base plus bonus) per year
- The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.
