Allocate is looking for an Accounting Manager to help manage the day-to-day accounting operations of a fast-growing fintech platform. This role owns the monthly close process, ensures the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, and partners closely with the Controller to strengthen accounting processes and controls as the company scales. This is an individual contributor role with significant ownership and visibility into the finance function and is an exciting opportunity to build a world class accounting function from the ground up.
What You'll Do• Own the end-to-end monthly and quarterly close process, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are accurate, timely, and properly supported.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for management reporting.
• Manage accounts payable process including vendor relationships as needed.
• Partner with the Controller on process improvements, automation, and strengthening internal controls.
• Assist in preparation for first external audit, including preparation of schedules and policy documentation.
• Assist with technical accounting research and memo preparation as new transactions or standards arise.
• Partner closely with Controller on implementation of a new ERP for multiple entity structure.
• Ensure compliance with tax filing deadlines and coordinate with external tax advisors as needed.
What We're Looking For• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in public accounting and/or a fast-paced startup or financial services environment.
• Solid working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and month-end close processes.
• Experience with modern accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Intuit) and financial close/reconciliation tools.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
• High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership over the accuracy of financial data.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and external auditors.
• Prior experience in fintech, asset management, fund administration, or private markets is a plus.
