Summary

The client is seeking a hands-on and experienced Accounting Manager to join its growing finance organization. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of the company’s accounting operations.

This is a player-coach role requiring a strong accounting professional who can independently manage day-to-day accounting activities while also providing leadership, mentorship, and oversight to a small accounting team. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting expertise, thrives in a fast-paced growth environment, and has experience improving processes, strengthening internal controls, and supporting financial reporting.

The Accounting Manager will play a key role in monthly close processes, financial reporting, GAAP compliance, process optimization, and maximizing the effectiveness of the Sage Intacct ERP environment.

Responsibilities

Financial Close & Reporting

• Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial reporting packages.
• Analyze financial results, identify trends, and investigate significant variances.
• Support the Controller with management reporting and financial analysis.

Team Leadership & Development

• Supervise, mentor, and support accounting team members.
• Review accounting work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Establish priorities, workflows, and performance expectations for the accounting team.
• Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

General Accounting Operations

• Maintain general ledger accuracy and oversee balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other accounting processes.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Assist with revenue recognition and technical accounting activities as needed.

Process Improvement & ERP Optimization

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
• Support automation initiatives and system enhancements.
• Act as a key user of the Sage Intacct ERP system and optimize workflows and reporting capabilities.
• Assist with accounting integration activities related to acquisitions, business growth, and operational changes.

Audit & Compliance

• Support external audit processes and coordinate required documentation.
• Assist with lender reporting, private equity sponsor requests, and stakeholder reporting requirements.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA certification required.
• 15 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct ERP.
• Experience managing, mentoring, or leading accounting professionals.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Preferred

• Experience working in a private equity-backed organization.
• M&A accounting or acquisition integration experience.
• Experience implementing accounting process improvements and scalable internal controls.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
