Product Offering:
Spreedly provides an open payments platform. The platform’s connectivity provides payments performance. Key products and services include:
Connect — A unified API that integrates with hundreds of payment gateways, processors, and alternative payment methods worldwide, including digital wallets. Merchants access the global payments ecosystem through one connection.
Vault — A PCI-compliant secure repository for payment methods. Merchants store card data once and reuse it across any payment service, reducing PCI scope and protecting cardholder data at scale.
Optimize — Workflow-driven routing and retry logic that directs each transaction to the best-performing gateway in real time. On average, 7.9% of failed transactions succeed immediately when retried on a secondary gateway. This is where merchants recover lost revenue and increase authorization success rates.
Protect — A flexible fraud and authentication layer, incorporating advanced fraud tools and 3DS. Following Spreedly's acquisition of Dodgeball in September 2025, fraud orchestration and payment optimization now operate within the same platform.
Resolve — Centralized management and reporting that reduces operational silos, strengthens security, and improves billing control across a merchant's entire payment operation.
Spreedly is the payment orchestration platform that lets merchants, platforms, and fintechs connect to hundreds of payment services through a single integration. As we modernize our finance systems, recently moving to Rippling and rolling out Ramp later this year, we are hiring a Senior Accountant to help run a lean, highly automated accounting function.
Reporting to the Controller, this is a broad, hands-on individual contributor role on a small team. Because routine general-ledger and accounts-payable work is increasingly automated, this role is less about manual data entry and more about ownership, judgment, exception handling, and continuous improvement of how we close the books. It is a strong fit for an accountant who is comfortable across the full close, curious about new systems, and eager to put automation and AI tools to work
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the recurring month-end close: prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and amortization; complete assigned account reconciliations; and investigate and explain variances.
- Perform balance sheet and subledger reconciliations across the general ledger, ensuring items are supported, current, and cleared timely.
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing in an increasingly automated environment, including review, exception handling, and controls rather than manual invoice entry.
- Process and administer company payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Record and reconcile payroll-related accounting entries (Rippling) and administer equity/stock (Carta), including related reconciliations and reporting.
- Support day-to-day expense management, including reviewing, approving, and reconciling employee expense reports and corporate card transactions (e.g., in Ramp).
- Take first pass on revenue recognition: enter and configure customer contracts in NetSuite under ASC 606, preparing schedules for the Controller's review and ownership.
- Support the outsourced tax function by gathering schedules and requested documentation for our external provider.
- Act as a power user across our finance systems (NetSuite, Rippling, Ramp), helping maintain configurations, troubleshoot, and keep integrations running cleanly.
- Identify and implement process improvements: streamline close tasks, build automations, and pilot AI-enabled workflows that reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
- Support the annual audit and maintain clear process documentation for the areas you own.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month-end close activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Solid working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including exposure to revenue recognition under ASC 606.
- Hands-on experience with a major ERP; NetSuite strongly preferred.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfort working in a lean, fast-changing environment where you own outcomes end-to-end.
- Genuine curiosity about, and comfort experimenting with, AI tools and new systems, and eagerness to adopt them to work smarter. (You do not need to be an expert; we care about the mindset and aptitude.)
Additional Skills We Value:
- CPA (or active candidate)
- Experience in SaaS, technology, or payments/fintech.
- Experience using Anthropic's Claude in an accounting context.
- Familiarity with our stack: Rippling, Ramp, Carta, Maxio, or comparable tools.
- A track record of process improvement or automation — examples of manual work you eliminated or streamlined.
