SUMMARY: The Chlorovinyls Accounting Analysis Group provides essential information flows, executive-ready reporting, and advanced financial and operational analytics to support the Chlorovinyls SVP, the PEM Segment Controller, the Chlorovinyls Divisional Controller, and other senior leaders. This role leads planning, analysis, and performance reporting for the Chlorovinyls Business (PVC/VCM and CA&D), one of Westlake’s most complex SBU’s with the highest degree of vertical integration, requiring a high degree of analytical skill to assess results across an end-to-end value chain, identify key performance drivers, quantify risks/opportunities, and translate data into actionable recommendations for Executive Management. Responsibilities include deep-dive analysis of results of operations and balance sheet, sales volumes and pricing, profitability by product/customer/market, capital and operating budgets, financial and market forecasts, scenario and sensitivity analyses, and other ad hoc decision support. The position also supports the accounting close process by preparing sales and netback reports used to reconcile sales revenues at month-end, a key SOX control. These COPA reports form the basis for customer profitability analysis in the Company’s digital financial platform (RISE). The incumbent regularly interacts with Executive Management and serves as a trusted partner to business and functional leaders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the generation of monthly and quarterly sales and various other financial reports, executive presentations, and advanced analytics packages for the Division Controller and Westlake’s Senior Management, ensuring accuracy, insight, and decision relevance
Own the monthly financial performance review for the Chlorovinyls Business (financial MBR / QBR process), including EBITDA variance/bridge analysis (volume, price, mix, feedstock/energy, manufacturing, logistics, FX, and other drivers) and identification / quantification of root causes of deviations in support of strategic and operational decisions
Synthesize complex analyses into clear narratives, implications, and recommendations; deliver insights to the Division Controller, Segment Controller, and Westlake’s Senior Management (EVP Materials Segment, SVP Chlorovinyls, and other senior executives)
Research relevant market, industry, and macroeconomic trends; quantify impacts to volume, pricing, margin, and working capital; and incorporate insights into forecasts, scenarios, and executive materials
Lead and consolidate the Chlorovinyls monthly forecasting and annual budgeting processes; coordinate with stakeholders across Chlorovinyls and other supporting functions (logistics, S&OP, manufacturing, commercial, other functions) to ensure integrated set of assumptions, accurate financial forecast and budgets, and timely completion of analysis, and ultimately high-quality presentations to the Division Controller and Senior Management
Develop and oversee complex scenario, sensitivity, and what-if analyses (e.g., feedstock/energy, outages, demand shocks, pricing/mix shifts, capital timing), leveraging prior experience to inform business planning and risk/opportunity assessment
Provide ad hoc analyses and decision-support to senior management, and lead special projects requiring advanced analytical judgment, cross-functional coordination, and executive-level communication
Identify, design, and implement enhancements to planning, forecasting, and performance reporting processes/systems to improve analytical rigor, standardize key drivers, and increase scalability across the integrated Chlorovinyls value chain
Advance financial reporting automation and analytics (e.g., dashboards and standardized data models) and champion data governance, controls, and integrity across sources used for executive reporting and performance assessment
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Will take a leadership role in a team of three analysts. This position will have direct oversight of three Principal Analysts.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline, with 10+ years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis, management reporting, or accounting/finance roles supporting complex, integrated manufacturing businesses
CPA, CFA, and/or MBA preferred; advanced training in analytics, data visualization, or modeling is a plus
Strong critical thinker with demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems, develop hypotheses, perform rigorous quantitative analysis, and work independently while collaborating as part of a high-performing team
Must be able to develop strong relationships and credibility with key internal teams and business leaders, and effectively influence across commercial, manufacturing, logistics, and functional organizations
High financial literacy and attention to detail, with strong command of all financial statements, internal controls, and data integrity concepts
Expert in compiling, validating, and interpreting key metrics and performance drivers; able to connect operational KPIs to financial outcomes and communicate implications clearly
Able to analyze and provide independent commentary on financial statements and forecasts, including complex variance analysis, scenario/sensitivity analysis, and risk/opportunity identification
Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills, with ability to translate complex analysis into clear executive-ready materials and recommendations
Advanced Excel skills to build/maintain robust models and perform analysis rapidly; able to automate and standardize outputs where appropriate and mentor the team on best practices
