This internship is designed for students pursuing a career in public accounting, bookkeeping, managed accounting, or advisory services. You'll develop practical accounting skills, strengthen your understanding of financial statements and accounting processes, and gain exposure to the day-to-day operations of a growing public accounting firm.

This is more than a data-entry internship—you'll actively contribute to client engagements, learn industry-leading accounting software, and work directly with professionals dedicated to helping you grow.

What You'll Do

As an Accounting Intern, you'll support the Accounting Team by:

  • Assisting with monthly bookkeeping and accounting services for small business clients.
  • Categorizing and reviewing bank and credit card transactions.
  • Completing bank, credit card, and other balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Preparing and maintaining accounting workpapers and supporting documentation.
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Reviewing general ledger activity for accuracy, completeness, and unusual transactions.
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
  • Identifying missing information, outstanding transactions, or discrepancies that require additional research.
  • Gathering and organizing client documentation needed to complete accounting projects.
  • Assisting accounting professionals with cleanup projects, special projects, and other client accounting needs.
  • Learning and utilizing Xero, QuickBooks Online, and other accounting technology platforms.
  • Participating in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
What We're Looking ForTechnical Skills

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, and the accounting equation.
  • Basic understanding of financial statements, including the balance sheet and income statement.
  • Familiarity with bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting/filtering, and basic data analysis.
  • Familiarity with Xero or QuickBooks Online is a plus but not required.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new accounting software and technology tools quickly.

  • Interest in pursuing a career in public accounting, bookkeeping, managed accounting, or advisory services.
  • Interest in pursuing CPA or other relevant professional credentials.
  • Previous internship, bookkeeping, accounting, or business experience is a plus but not required.
