Accounting Intern – One Year Fixed TermHuntsman is seeking an Accounting Intern – One Year Fixed Term supporting the Finance Division located in Heredia, Costa Rica (Shared Services). This position will report to the Inventory & Cost Accounting Supervisor.
Job ScopeThe Accounting Intern will provide temporary support to the Inventory and Cost Accounting team, including coverage for maternity leave and assistance with day-to-day accounting activities. This role offers hands-on experience in month-end close processes, inventory accounting, reconciliations, audit support, SAP reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position is ideal for a motivated accounting student or recent graduate seeking practical experience in a fast-paced shared services environment.
In summary, as the Accounting Intern, you will:- Assist with inventory and account reconciliations by gathering supporting documentation, comparing balances, and documenting reconciling items.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including preparation of schedules and journal entry support.
- Assist with inventory analysis, inventory aging reviews, and follow-up on unusual or obsolete inventory items.
- Prepare and organize audit schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Support SAP-related activities, reporting processes, and data validation efforts.
- Assist with accruals, inventory adjustments, and other accounting analyses under supervision.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives through report development, automation, and documentation of procedures.
- Provide analytical support and assist with special projects assigned by the accounting team.
- Maintain accurate documentation and support internal control requirements.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.
All candidates are expected to work at our office in AFZ, Heredia on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please note that there may be occasions where additional office days are required, due specific business needs.
Minimum Qualifications- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or a recent graduate in Accounting.
- Academic coursework demonstrating knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing accounting support and reconciliations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to learn and apply accounting concepts, including inventory and cost accounting.
- Accountability and ownership of assigned tasks.

- Office-based environment within Huntsman's Shared Services organization in AFZ, Heredia, Costa Rica.

- Position may require additional support during month-end close and audit cycles to meet business deadlines.
