What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking an organized, detail‑oriented professional with a strong commitment to accuracy and accountability to support the hotel’s cash handling and financial controls. As General Cashier, you will play a critical role in managing daily cash activity, reconciling transactions, and safeguarding hotel funds. This position is ideal for a trusted finance professional who values precision, collaboration, and operational excellence within a hospitality environment.

What You’ll Do:

Cash Operations & Controls

  • Oversee cashier activities to ensure compliance with all hotel policies and procedures related to cash handling.

  • Retrieve cashier deposit envelopes from the drop safe on a daily basis and audit deposits for accuracy.

  • Prepare cashier “due back” envelopes as needed to maintain assigned cashier bank totals.

  • Balance daily cash activity and prepare bank deposits for armored‑car pick‑up.

  • Anticipate cash requirements and prepare change requests to ensure adequate operating funds for all cashiers.

  • Make change for cashier banks as necessary to maintain proper fund balances.

Reconciliation & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain daily deposit records to ensure accurate reporting and recording of deposit activity.

  • Prepare daily and monthly cashier over/short reports; assist in researching discrepancies, notify management, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Inventory the General Cashier primary operating fund on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure accuracy.

  • Obtain foreign currency exchange rates daily and distribute updated information to hotel cashiers.

  • Separate foreign currency exchange funds for scheduled pick‑up.

Records Management & Auditing

  • Organize and maintain complete and accurate records for cashier deposit envelopes, daily logs, credit card deposits, and cash documentation.

  • Maintain records and contracts for all cashier house banks and provide copies to Human Resources as required.

  • Issue and control all cashier house banks, including vault combinations and keys.

  • Conduct unannounced monthly audits of cashier house banks.

  • Copy all checks received by hotel cashiers and maintain a log for reference and audit purposes.

Petty Cash Administration

  • Disburse petty cash funds upon receipt of properly completed and approved petty cash vouchers.

  • Maintain petty cash disbursement records and transmit documentation to the Assistant Controller for ledger posting.

Other Responsibilities

  • Regular attendance in conformance with standards.

  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs.

  • Required to attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications Include:

  • High School diploma or higher.

  • Three (3) years of experience as a General Cashier or in an accounting‑related role.

  • Demonstrated experience with cash handling, reconciliations, and financial record maintenance.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage sensitive financial information with professionalism and discretion.

Skills Required

  • High school diploma or higher.
  • Three years of experience as a General Cashier or in an accounting‑related role.
