As a Director of Accounting, you will be responsible for the effective operation of the accounting department including planning, execution, and resource management in line with the Western Union strategy. The scope of the accounting activities includes settlement accounting of the Western Union products, owning and leading strategic initiatives, contributing to regulatory compliance reporting and building robust operational control environment.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead and direct a shared service accounting function for Western Union Global Money Transfer business settlement activities.

• Guide and monitor a team of 50 professionals ensuring quality for month end close process and corporate reporting, timely resolution of issues, compliance with the accounting standards and SOX control framework.

• Be key contact for external and internal auditors.

• Work with Manager's team to achieve KPIs and SLA's set for the function, also to identify areas for process improvements and further to develop automation initiatives including robotics, artificial Intelligence and other automation tools

• Important and challenging part of your role will be related to the Core Settlement Platform Development Projects representing accounting function and validating the requirements to the systems are captured, tested, and implemented.

• Supporting the Business and other stakeholders on matters relating to the execution of Western Union's strategy.

Role Requirements

• Degree or international certificate in a finance or accounting related discipline.

• A substantial number of years' experience leading an accounting group with an excellent and long track record in people management.

• Ability to operate in very dynamic and global working environment, managing multiple priorities and interests from different stakeholders.

• Strong decision making, problem solving and conflict management skills.

• Previous experience in automation, process enhancements, new corporate system implementations would be a strong credit to a candidate.

Salary

The monthly gross base salary range is 5812 – 7100 EUR. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive an annual bonus that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, and competencies.
