About the role .
McCain Foods proudly offers a Pre-approved Program by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, which enables individuals to fulfill the necessary practical experience requirements in full.
We seek an accounting intern who aspires to pursue a CPA designation in accounting. This is an opportunity to join the McCain team in our Toronto office starting in May 2026 and working through August 2026. At McCain, we operate under a hybrid model, with three days spent in the office and the remainder working remotely.
In this role, the successful individual will be assigned to one of our pre-approved rotations, as outlined below, gaining the qualifying practical experience necessary to become a Chartered Professional Accountant. The individual will act as a partner to support the day-to-day operations of one of the respective teams they are assigned to: Financial Reporting, Internal Audit, Financial Planning and Analysis, or Corporate Taxation. These teams play a crucial role in McCain's operations and are integral to producing and maintaining accurate financial information within McCain. You will also have the opportunity to gain insight into several business areas. This is an existing vacancy for McCain which is actively seeking to be hired.
What you'll be doing.
The candidate will be assigned to one of the following Global Finance teams:
FINANCIAL REPORTING
- Research complex accounting issues and recommend treatment
- Assist with consolidated quarterly and annual financial reporting for 100+ entities in multiple currencies
- Collaborate with external auditors and provide working papers (summer term)
- Assist in preparing statutory reports for specific jurisdictions
INTERNAL AUDIT
- Conduct financial and operational reviews and create detailed audit reports
- Plan and execute audits to identify efficiency and cost-saving opportunities
- Develop risk assessments and audit methodologies to assess the control environment
- Establish Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) processes and access controls
FINANCIAL PLANNING & ANALYSIS
- Assist with monthly performance reporting and investigate variances
- Analyze regional and segment performance for improvement recommendations
- Prepare and analyze quarterly/annual forecasts
- Support critical strategic projects
TAXATION
- Prepare corporate income tax returns for low-complexity subsidiaries
- Preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions under IFRS
- Assist with transfer pricing compliance and documentation
- Calculate exempt surplus/safe income for McCain-owned companies
Qualifications:
- 2nd or 3rd year university student, enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Interest in obtaining CPA designation
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Proficiency in the English language

Compensation Package: $25.00 - $30.50 CAD hourly wage equivalent, paid salary.
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education and training, and other organizational needs.
