Job Summary

The Accounting Associate is responsible for accurately and timely processing daily accounting transactions. Key responsibilities include agency-billed invoicing, client payment processing and deposits, direct bill commission processing, and carrier and vendor payments. This role also supports a variety of bookkeeping, accounting, and administrative functions as needed. The Accounting Associate is expected to perform these duties while maintaining the agency’s quality, accuracy, and service standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process and post: 
    • Agency-billed invoices
    • Direct bill commission receipts
    • Direct bill commission statements
    • Direct bill commission statement retrievals
    • Client payments and bank deposits
  • Work with Client Service teams and Account Managers to research and resolve direct bill commission issues.
  • Process approved invoices for payment to vendors and suppliers.
  • Assist with carrier payables and provide backup support to the Senior Accounting Associate.
  • Escalate unresolved items to management according to established timelines.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations as assigned.
  • Participate in projects focused on improving processes and efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
  • May be required to work additional hours during month-end close periods to meet reporting deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and interpret complex information.
  • Ability to take initiative, solve problems, and deliver results in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications or similar business software.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of accounting experience required, preferably in a shared services environment.
  • Previous experience in the insurance brokerage industry is preferred.

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, listen and observe. Specifically, the employee must be able to communicate clearly on the telephone with others. 
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This includes repeating motions that involve the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Position may require the employee to ascend and/or descend ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like. 
  • High stress, fast-paced environment with a high volume of work to be completed daily.
  • Limited physical effort required or exposure to physical risk. However, must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Skills Required
