Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Assistant will report directly to the Controller of the Atlanta office.  This position will be responsible for tracking and following up on all accounting deadlines.  As the Accounting Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the accounting department meets their deadlines and escalates issues to the Controller as needed.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare staff meeting agenda.
• Record, distribute and organize meeting minutes and recordings.
• Maintain, update and review all accounting related calendars.
• Monitor workflow tools and circulate reminders for action items within the accounting department to ensure timely completion of accounting tasks.
• Maintain the accounting personnel schedule to ensure appropriate in-office coverage.
• Distribute incoming mail within the accounting department and coordinate items for standard and expedited shipping.
• Facilitates treasury functions including bank access, positive pay, check deposit by remote capture or courier arrangement.
• Manages access to third party partner platforms.
• Generate reporting to monitor compliance with accounting policy.
• Audits and compiles financial reporting packages.
• Provides reports as requested for annual audit.  
• Upload excel files to accounting software.
• Special projects as needed.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent 
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 
• Strong Excel knowledge
• Previous property management experience preferred
